First, we were picked up at our lodging and driven in a private car to the mangrove river. Next, we hopped into a canoe and paddled leisurely while surrounded by the tranquility of nature (phew). Afterward, we moved to a spot with a great view and went snorkeling to observe the colorful coral reefs. Even though it was only a half-day tour, the guide was very flexible in accommodating our requests, and I truly felt it was a wonderful experience.

I was looking for a quick and easy activity to enjoy on my solo trip, so I signed up for this tour. The guide was very friendly and chatted with me, so I was able to enjoy the seas of Amami without feeling lonely. We had the tour all to ourselves as we explored the mangroves and took in the breathtaking views. Spending that leisurely time alone was a luxurious experience that allowed me to fully immerse myself in nature. I also really appreciated the round-trip transportation and the photo service.

No matter where you take a photo, there are nothing but stunning scenic spots on Amami Oshima! Since we had the boat all to ourselves for half a day, we could take photos without worrying about anyone else, and we were able to capture really stylish shots of us snorkeling and the beautiful mangrove scenery! The photos our guide took had great angles, and we came away with so many cute memories. However, the wind was a bit strong, so it would have been even better if I’d had a little time to fix my hair. It was such an Instagram-worthy experience—I highly recommend it! ♪

With a half-day private tour, you can enjoy nature experiences and take in breathtaking views, and since transportation is included, I feel it offers great value for the price. They were also very flexible in accommodating my choice of activities. However, since the half-day timeframe is limited and includes travel time, it would have been perfect if they had provided even more detailed guidance in advance regarding how the schedule would be allocated. Overall, it was a satisfying and fulfilling experience.

I wasn’t very confident in my physical stamina and was constantly worried about whether I’d be able to keep up with the tour, but since it was a private tour, they tailored the pace entirely to us, which was a huge help. Thanks to the guide’s gentle guidance during both the mangrove canoeing and snorkeling, the fun far outweighed any fatigue, even though it was only a half-day tour. Next, we hopped into a canoe and slowly made our way down the river, enveloped in silence, as we experienced the great outdoors firsthand (I was sweating!). After that, we moved on to a spot with beautiful ocean waters, where we were able to observe colorful fish while snorkeling.
