    The weather was overcast, but it did not rain, and we enjoyed carefully exploring the forest while our guide talked about the history of Amami. When we crossed the gate of the protected area, which is one step higher than the previous forest, the atmosphere was even more pristine than before, and we felt the preciousness of the activity to preserve the natural environment. We also enjoyed learning about other supermarkets frequented by Amami locals. After that, I bought some miki and island bananas and ate them.

    I had my 6 year old with me and the guide was very attentive and we enjoyed the tour to the end. He explained the plants and creatures in an easy-to-understand way, allowing us to observe them more deeply. He also took pictures, which we were able to have later! The people we shared the tour with were kind and helpful. I would definitely ask them to take another tour in Amami next time I am in the area.
