I would recommend this tour to anyone who is new to Amami. The guide was very knowledgeable and showed us the area from a unique local perspective, which I found most gratifying since I am in my 50s, and this kind of attentive travel is what I appreciate the most.

The tour was cancelled due to a typhoon, so I asked the tour guide to pick me up from my hotel, which was far away. He also told me about the origin of the towns along the way, which helped me to get to know Amami better. She also took us to places that we had not requested, and I thought she was very kind. It was great to be able to freely decide where to go. The local guide took us to some spectacular non-touristy spots, which made the trip much more intense.

We were unable to rent a car and this individual tour was a great help. We were able to visit the highlights in a reasonable amount of time and listen to the knowledgeable stories of the tour guides. We were also able to experience nature by learning how to recognize the sprouts of the long-life grass! I took them home and made tempura! Thank you very much.

I liked that the local guide gave us a thorough tour with explanations, rather than just "sightseeing a few places and that's it. Since it was a private tour, I could go around at my own pace and take lots of pictures.
