I went on this tour with my girlfriend. Since we were traveling quietly through the forest in an electric car, the two of us were able to fully savor the mysterious atmosphere of the night. My girlfriend was delighted by the adorable sight of the Amami black rabbits, and it became a wonderful memory of our time in Amami.

Exploring the forest at night was a little scary, but since the electric vehicle moved so quietly, I was able to enjoy the experience with surprising ease. Thanks to the quiet ride in the electric vehicle, the sounds of nocturnal animals, the chirping of insects, and the rustling of leaves in the forest resonated surprisingly clearly. I was completely captivated during those 90 minutes as creatures appeared one after another, illuminated by the guide’s flashlight. The fluffy behind of the Amami black rabbit was absolutely adorable. Our guide was truly skilled at both spotting and explaining the creatures, and we were able to encounter snakes, newts, fireflies, and other species unique to Amami. We even had time to get out of the car to observe them up close, making it a truly precious experience.

Since it’s an electric car, it was completely silent, and the peaceful atmosphere of the forest at night was absolutely wonderful! Maybe because there was no engine noise, the animals didn’t run away, so I was able to get some great shots of the cute black rabbits☆ The starry sky was incredibly beautiful, too, and I took lots of emotional videos—it was a tour that left me completely satisfied♪

I spotted as many as 21 black hares, and I also got to see many other creatures on Amami Oshima, including the blue jay, mice, frogs, Amami vipers, newts, false scorpions, yellow-striped fireflies, and Amami saw-toothed stag beetles, among others!! The electric vehicle felt open and airy, and the night breeze felt wonderful! Since it was so quiet, we could hear the sounds of the wildlife clearly, and because there were no windows, it was easy to spot them—we could hop out right away to observe them up close! In addition to the wildlife, our guide also explained the constellations to us! We had a truly precious and moving experience—from turning off our lights in the pitch-black forest to gaze up at the starry sky, to flashing our lights to attract the yellow-striped fireflies! The guide was very kind and knowledgeable about nature, teaching us so much—it was a tour that left my son, who loves wildlife, completely satisfied! I compared several options, but choosing this tour was absolutely the right decision! I’ll definitely join this tour again the next time I visit Amami Oshima!

Since it’s an electric car, it’s seriously so quiet that I was able to get super close to the rabbits lol. The guide’s ability to spot them was godlike—it blew my mind! Though it was a bit chillier in the mountains at night than I expected, so bringing a light jacket would’ve made it perfect~

The quiet electric car allowed us to meet the Amami rabbit and other animals very close by without startling them. We were able to get in and out quickly and acted quickly. We were able to see more than 10 Amami herons. They were cute - ❤️. He also introduced other endemic species that are only found in Amami. The rich nature, kind people, Oshima silk, and Amami Oshima made me like it more.

My mother and I took the night tour with an electric car starting at 7:30pm. We arrived earlier than planned, Oku, the person in charge, arrived early, and we left a little earlier, just as the sun was setting. The electric car was quiet and close to the ground, and we saw more than 15 Amami Owl rabbits. We were advised that a video is recommended rather than a photo, and we were able to see many cute figures. We also encountered owls, newts, frogs, tadpoles, crabs, hermit crabs, rats, and fireflies. Mr. Oku told us about the history of Amami and we learned the meaning of preserving nature. It was my first visit to Amami Oshima, but there was so much nature and everyone was so kind that it became a wonderful memory for me. Thank you very much.
