Our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly, and shared some fascinating facts about Amami’s nature and wildlife. The tour’s duration was also perfect for our group of two adults and one teenager. The lunch looked great and tasted delicious, too. If we ever have the chance to visit here again, we’d definitely take a tour with the same guide. First, a shuttle picked us up and took us to the mystical Kinzakuhara Primeval Forest. Next, guided by our tour guide, we took a leisurely stroll through the forest while observing rare plants (phew). In the afternoon, we moved on to the mangrove river, where we hopped into canoes and paddled leisurely while taking in the breathtaking natural scenery. We were able to fully experience Amami’s nature in just one day—it was a truly fulfilling and wonderful experience.

As a one-day package that lets you experience both the Kinzakuhara trek and mangrove canoeing, I think it offers great value for the price, especially with the included transportation and lunch. The expert commentary from the certified guide was also very informative. However, since the activities take place outdoors, it would have been perfect if they had emphasized the importance of insect repellent even more in their pre-trip instructions. Overall, it was a satisfying and fulfilling experience.

I took part in a tour to experience Amami’s great outdoors with my children. During our hike at Kinzakuhara, the kids’ eyes lit up at the sight of huge plants they’d never seen before. No matter where you take a photo, every spot is mysterious and Instagram-worthy! I participated in the canoeing by myself, and in the Kanezakuhara Wilderness Forest I was accompanied by a couple, so there were three of us. It was my first time to ride a canoe and I was not confident in my oar operation, so I chose to ride alone with a staff member. It was low tide in the mangrove forest, but we were able to observe crabs, flying gobies, and other creatures, which was enjoyable. In the Kinsakuen primeval forest, we were able to enjoy walking along a thick forest road with many plants that looked like dinosaurs might appear, with careful explanations by the staff. I recommend both of these tours.
