I got a ride from my hotel in Naze. On the way, I switched to a Jeep to go on a night safari. I got to see lots of Amami black rabbits 😊 The starry sky I saw after the tour was absolutely beautiful ✨

Even though it was a short tour, I really enjoyed how efficiently we covered the highlights and how the guide introduced us to some great restaurants. Since I can’t drive, I was really glad to be taken to places that require a car to reach. The guide also told me about recommended sightseeing spots and shops we couldn’t visit at the time due to time constraints or itinerary issues, as well as how to get there by bus, so I was able to stop by on my last day!

The day after my diving trip, I had half a morning to spare before my flight, so I tried booking the tour at the last minute on a whim—and it worked out! Since I don’t have a driver’s license, I couldn’t rent a car, and my only option for getting around was the bus. Given all the luggage I had, I was really glad I was able to join the tour. The elderly guide was also a wonderful person, so I was able to enjoy the tour with complete peace of mind!

The guide asked me which I’d prefer—a passenger car, which lets you get closer to the animals and observe them at a leisurely pace, or a Jeep—and since it was raining, I chose the passenger car. I was completely satisfied with the result! I was able to observe an Amami black rabbit feeding up close and take my time watching it. It was a wonderful experience where I encountered many creatures endemic to Amami, including six Amami black rabbits, the Amami salamander, wild boars, fireflies, the Amami green pigeon, the Amami blue jay, and more. It was the first time in my life I’d seen fireflies… I was deeply moved. I hope I can spot a Habu snake next time. The guide was a true veteran—his ability to spot animals and his quick thinking were amazing. I felt this was a tour you definitely won’t regret taking, so if you’re on the fence, I highly recommend signing up!
