笠利半島東海岸海中公園とは

笠利半島東海岸海中公園は、奄美空港から車で20分ほど走ったところにあり、奄美大島最北端笠利崎一帯に広がる自然公園です。奄美群島国定公園内の海域公園として1974年に指定され、この公園の特徴は亀と浦島太郎のモニュメントで、地域で広まっている伝説により亀に触るとご利益があるとされています。

公園としてきれいに整備され、見晴らしの良い場所にあります。透き通った海ときれいな砂浜、白い雲が美しく、特徴のある景色で、笠利崎灯台、変わった形の岩が点在している場所です。海岸に出ると、奇岩等が点在、サラサラとした砂浜や亜熱帯性の海浜植物が茂る美しい海岸で、手つかずのような自然の風景、砂浜でゆっくりと時を過ごすことができるでしょう。
