湯湾岳（ゆわんだけ）

奄美の霊山といってもいいのが「湯湾岳」で、標高は694mあり奄美大島の最高峰です。最高峰の神秘性からでしょう、シニレク・アマミコがこの地に降り立ったことから奄美大島は始まったという伝承があります。

奄美群島国立公園の特別保護地区に頂上付近全体が指定されており、知名度の高いアマミノクロウサギを筆頭に貴重な奄美・南西諸島の固有種の生息場所The first two are the following.

森林公園・奄美フォレストポリスの一角にある「マテリヤの滝」は、奄美大島西側にある大和村に昔から聖地として有名な滝It is.

滝までの細い山道は昼間でも薄暗く感じますが、途中に空の開けた場所があり、陽の光に輝く滝壺が現れます。その光と水の幻想的な美しさから、『マテリヤ・ヌ・コモリ』（本当に美しい太陽の滝壺）と名付けられたそうです。

滝自体はそれほど大きくありませんが、落ちる水の量が多いのでマイナスイオンに満たされ、滝の風景のもの静かさが“オアシス”を感じさせます。マテリヤの滝に向かう途中で「思勝湾」の絶景を望むこともできます。
