What is Heigyomori Shrine?
Many history buffs are familiar with the name Hiragimori.
Kiyomori's second son Motomori is supposed to have died in the Tale of the Heike and the Genpei period, but his name is missing from the Azuma Kagami and from the deaths in the battle of Dannoura, which lie in Nanamori Mound in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and is the source of the legend that the Heike remnants escaped to Amami Oshima to revive the area.
While the Heike Monogatari (Tale of the Heike) and the Genpei Moral Decline and Fall are highly adapted for reading, the Azuma Kagami has value as a historical document of this period.
It is not surprising that Yukimori survived in this area. The shrine dedicated to Yukimori is Heikyomori Shrine. It is.
Ryugo Town is famous as the town where Saigo Takamori spent his life, but it is also extremely rich in Heike legends.
Access takes a little more than 40 minutes by car from Nase Port, but it will be a moderate and comfortable time to expand your imagination and the romance of the history of the Heike Amami legend.
