What is Yui Mountain Observatory?

The view of the Oshima Strait, which is selected as one of the Amami Ten Sceneries, can be seen from the Yuiidake Observatory, which offers a panoramic view at a perfect vantage point. Located halfway up Mt. Yui in Setouchi Town in the southern part of Amami Oshima Island, a 30-minute drive from the town of Koniya along a sharply curved mountain road leads to a parking lot and a solid white observatory next to it. On a clear day, the harmony of the bright blue sky, sea, and clouds at the Yuiidake Observatory is amazing and shows the magnificence of nature, but at sunset, when the straits turn red, it is breathtakingly beautiful and fantastic, and offers a different view. The atmosphere of the town of Koniya and the Oshima Straits can be clearly seen, and the scenery is typical of Amami Oshima. It is a good point to stop by as it is close to the parking lot and a short walk to the observatory.
