Night Safari Tour by 4WD Jeep

This is a tour to search for and observe Amami Oshima's endemic flora and fauna, including the Amami rabbit, by 4WD while driving slowly through the deep mountains at night.

There is basically no need to get out of the car and walk, so it is safe and easy for everyone from children to the elderly!

We will guide you in a 4WD jeep that can be fully opened!

The guest capacity of the 4WD jeep we use is limited to 5 adults.We will guide you in small groups.

Don't worry, you can enjoy it fully open when the weather is nice and put up the holo when it starts to rain! We will guide you to attach and detach the holo with one-touch, and fully open as much as possible.

Compared to a one-box car or a car with a holo, this car has a 360° field of view. Especially on days when the night sky is in good condition, you will be under the stars.

On Amami Oshima Island, known as the Galapagos of the East, you will encounter creatures that can only be seen at night. The creatures that can be observed on Amami Oshima change depending on the season and weather.

The town of Sumiyo-cho, where the tour is held, is surrounded by mountains and has little artificial light, making it possible to observe the best starry sky on a new moon day when the clouds have cleared!

There is an office with restrooms and changing rooms so that you can relax before and after your tour.

4)	Night Safari Tour Experience (120 min.) ➡︎ We will observe the flora and fauna from the top of the vehicle as we slowly move along in a fully open 4WD jeep driven by a guide. There is no getting out of the vehicle and walking. Lights for searching for creatures will also be lent to customers depending on the situation, so let's search for creatures together!

The tours are generally held rain or shine, but in the event of sudden heavy rain or other circumstances, customers may be asked to decide whether or not to participate in the tour on site. In such cases, no cancellation fee will be charged.

The whole family was excited about how much fun it was. At first I didn't recognize the Amami rabbit because it was so integrated into the scenery, but by the end of the day, I could tell it was there! By the end of the tour, I could tell it was there. It was very interesting! We were worried about the rainy season, but the weather was fine and we enjoyed both the creature search and the starry sky very much. The tour proceeded slowly by jeep through the Mitaro Pass. We saw more than 10 Amami rabbit, a spiny rat, a sleeping lorikeet, and many other Amami creatures as we listened to the guide. I went there on the night of my arrival at Amami Oshima. We were worried about the cold temperatures that night, but even before we entered the Santaroge Road, we saw a rare red one (akashobin?).
