与路島とは
与路島は加計呂麻島と請島の間にある奄美諸島の有人島の中では最小の9.5k㎡の面積の島です。
美しい景観で知られるハンミャ島も与路島の行政区画となっています。奄美大島特有の防風を兼ねた旧人の知恵、サンゴの石垣が多く残っていることで有名です。
ここ10年ほどで奄美大島や喜界島では、奄美特有のサンゴの石垣は急速に姿を消しブロック壁に変更される傾向が加速しています。サンゴの石垣の隙間はハブが好む環境なのです。
現地を訪れて隙間になにか違和感を感じた時には用心をお薦めI will do so.
それだけに与路島の石垣とガジュマルの景観は異国情緒を感じさせる見事なものですから、目に焼き付けておくことをお薦めします。
アクティビティとしては磯釣りが楽しめます。ハタ類の味はさることながら、ウメイロの刺身は真鯛にひけを取らない魅力があります。
アクセスに関しては古仁屋から町営連絡船で請島を経由して100分程度ですが、始発の直行便ならば50分で到着できますのでお薦めです。
ただし外海ルートを通りますので波高10mで欠航になります。欠航の頻度が高いので、その場合のセカンドプランを用意しておくといいでしょう。
