曽津高崎は奄美大島の最西端部分です。西古見灯台と呼ばれていますが、正式名称は曽津高崎灯台It is.

この曽津高崎灯台が真の奄美大島最西端なのですが、立ち入り禁止区域になっています。

奄美大島の灯台はもとよりマナー違反の侵入者が多いために、区域ごとに立ち入り禁止になる灯台が増えています。

奄美大島の最北端の笠利灯台も以前は登れたのですが、禁止になってしまいました。立ち入り禁止区域に入らずとも西古見集落から至る曽津高崎へと向かう道は海岸線が続き、クルージングドライブするには最適な環境と言えるでしょう。

旧日本陸軍の観測所跡は特に絶景スポットとなっています。

加計呂麻島、請島、与路島といった比較的大きな奄美の有人島からハミャ島、須子茂離などの小さな無人島までひとまとめに視界に入れることができます。ここを通過して西古見灯台は左の標識が出たところで引き返すのがお薦めです。
