嘉入の滝とは

嘉入の滝は奄美群島の離島・加計呂麻島にある滝です。加計呂麻島の海の玄関口・瀬相港から車で凡そ15分の距離に位置している滝で、道路上の車中からも見ることができます。

この嘉入の滝は古くはウティリミズヌ瀧と呼ばれていたとされ、その昔は琉球地域の女性祭司・ノロに纏わる聖域であったと伝えられています。滝の源流は高さ310メートルの嘉入山にあり、滝の高さは約15メートル、滝壺は約2メートルの規模となっています。因みに滝壺には古くからの言い伝えでは滝の主たる大鰻が棲むともされています。

滝の周囲にはヒカゲヘゴなどの亜熱帯特有のシダ類が茂り、悠久の時の流れを感じさせてくれる幻想的な景観が広がる癒やしの空間The first two are the following.
