徳浜断崖とは

徳浜断崖は、大島郡大和村戸円名音トンネル入口で、名瀬港から車で走って１時間、戸円集落の先の名音トンネルの北側にある断崖です。高さ172メートルの赤茶色の断崖は約800年前の鎌倉時代の大地震で現れたと言われ、岩肌を切り取ったような断崖は、下から上を見上げるとその大きさと迫力、その力強さに圧倒されることでしょう。

この断崖のそばには海岸があり、透明度の高い素敵なビーチが広がり、展望スペースもあり、見事な眺望を楽しめます。徳浜断崖は、奄美大島の中でも有数のスケールの大きい断崖であり、自然の力強さと、畏怖の念を起こさせるような威厳を感じさせます。あまりにも大きくて写真ではうまく表現できないほどのインパクトです。
