田中一村終焉の家とは

天才画家と言われた田中一村の家が奄美市名瀬有屋町に移設保存されています。

田中一村の花鳥画はゴーギャンを彷彿とさせますが、生前は世に出ることもなく寂しく亡くなります。

田中一村の家はとても人が生活していた家とは思えないほど粗雑です。ただ木の板を張り付けただけであり説明を受けなければただの物置にしか見えません。

大島紬の染色工として働いて得たお金は生活を切詰めてでも絵の道具の購入代金に回されていたことが、家の姿からもうかがえます。家のそばに田中一村の生涯を記した碑There are

田中一村は栃木に生まれ、千葉市に20年住んでから奄美大島へ渡ります。亜熱帯の植物や鳥などを題材にした日本画を描き続けますが、生前には作品を公表する機会がなく、1977年に無名のまま没します

1980年代に、テレビの美術番組で紹介されたことをきっかけに、全国に知られるようになりました。なお、空港のそばの奄美パ－クに、田中一村の絵を数多く収蔵されている「田中一村美術館」があります。
