    金作原原生林 Kanasakubara Wilderness Forest - Amami-Oshima-. Kinsaku-genbaru Forest is one of the popular tourist spots on Amami Oshima Island. It takes about 40 minutes by car from Amami City Hall. Since it is difficult to access by public transportation, we recommend that you join a tour. Subtropical plants such as the giant fern Lizard Hego are native to the area, which is also home to the Amami rabbit, a special natural treasure, and the Kinobori lizard, a rare creature.

    癒しの空間 Mangrove primeval forest - Amami-Oshima-. Mangrove is a general term for plants that inhabit wetlands and tidal flats in tropical and subtropical regions. The mangroves in Sumiyoshi on Amami Oshima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture, consist of mehirugi and ohirugi. Sumiyō is located at the estuary where the Yakusho River and Sumiyō River converge, and a primeval mangrove forest covering more than 71 hectares is spreading.

We were very happy to see ferns that we had never seen before, a nanafushi even in winter, and an insect that may have served as a model for the character Kamaji in "Spirited Away. My son was so happy to see mushrooms that he had only seen in books that he wanted to come back again in a different season.     The half-day private tour was like a quiet ritual that led us to the “depths of Amami. The first half of the tour took us to Funangyo Falls and Modama, the native habitat of Jack and the Beanstalk. The forests surrounded by rain seemed to muffle the sounds, deepen the colors, and change the world to a slower time. I was struck by the mystery of time itself, as if nature was quietly speaking to me. In the second half of the day, we slid into the depths of the virgin mangrove forest by canoe. The rain stopped, the wind disappeared, and the boundary between the forest and the sky reflected in the water began to melt. Even the sound of moving paddles became distant, and I realized that I had stopped ”thinking" and could only "feel". Amami's nature is not only beautiful, but it is the best place to relax your mind and heart.
